Campaign Story

Othon is a 10-year-old boy who has been battling cancer for the last six years. When he was just four years old, the little guy was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer: stage 4 neuroblastoma of the left adrenal gland. After this heart-breaking diagnosis, little Othon was immediately subjected to a treatment plan that included chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, surgical procedures and bone marrow transplant. And while it seemed that the cancer was finally in remission, his tests revealed metastasis to the bones and bone marrow.  When his mother got the results, she lost the ground under her feet. Their uphill struggle hadn’t reached an end. On the contrary, it had just begun.

Currently, Othon is being subjected to immunotherapy, while he will soon be subjected to a bone marrow transplant. Since he is at high risk of infections, due to his cancer and treatments, little Othon is being home-schooled, while his transportation to and from the hospital is being performed via a patient-transport service. All of these years, his mother has never left his side, while she had to quit her job since she is the only person who can accompany him to the hospital and take care of him. Today however, she has come to a dead end and she is unable to cope with the family’s living expenses, as well as Othon’s medical needs.

Othon is going through tough times, however he is not giving up. Even though he has been deprived of a care-free childhood, he keeps on fighting with courage. Let us all join forces and facilitate this little hero’s struggle, with just one small gesture! Together, we can make it happen!
