7-year-old Irini has been diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a complicated genetic neurological and developmental disorder that causes severe intellectual disability and motor impairment.
When she was just a few months old, she started to manifest signs of motor dysfunction, epileptic seizures and severe intellectual disability, while she had a 99% disability rating.
Patients who suffer from this disorder, tend to deteriorate rapidly. As a result, they suffer permanent loss of active and passive range of motion. Even though Irini is being subjected to an intensive physiotherapy program and she is receiving the proper care, she is severely hypotonic, while she is not able to walk without support. Her daily life is a constant struggle. However, we can improve her quality of life, if we manage to provide her with the orthopedic devices that are essential for her daily needs. A stair glider, a pediatric wheelchair, a special needs bath seat, an adjustable bed and a disability chair, all custom-made according to this little girl’s needs, can be purchased if we all join forces and raise 15.655 euros.

Valuable orthopedic accessories were secured for our little Irene!
<p>All together we managed to buy orthopedic accessories that will greatly facilitate the daily life of 5-year-old Irene who has been diagnosed with degenerative RETT syndrome. The bath chair will provide her with better hygiene conditions and the special indoor seat will provide her with comfort and safety during the hours she eats and is in a sitting position within her home. Irene’s new stroller, of appropriate specifications for her needs according to the physiatrist who monitors her, is ready for pickup and our little fighter is looking forward to taking her ride. Something that for all of us is a given, for some is a small treasure that comes into their hands thanks to your own love that you manage to put into practice every day.<br />
