Nikolia is a 12-year-old girl, who has been diagnosed with a tumor located below her right clavicle. According to the pediatric oncologist who monitors her condition, this type of tumor is extremely rare and is considered extremely dangerous, since as it grows, it puts pressure against surrounding tissues, which can lead to severe complications, such as paralysis of the vocal cords, hemorrhage, compression of the trachea and blindness. Nikolia needs to be immediately subjected to a surgical resection of the tumor. The procedure has already been scheduled for late May, while it will be performed in a specialized clinic in Germany.

Campaign Story

Nikolia is a 12-year-old girl, who until recently seemed perfectly healthy. Her life however, turned upside-down last August, when her parents noticed a mass on her right clavicle. They immediately visited their pediatrician, who referred them to a pediatric oncologist. That’s when an uphill struggle began for Nikolia and her family. After the girl had been subjected to a series of diagnostic tests, the doctor informed them that the mass was in fact a rare kind of tumor, which grows on the neurons. These tumors are considered extremely dangerous, since as they grow, they put pressure against surrounding tissues, which can lead to severe complications, such as paralysis of the vocal cords, hemorrhage, compression of the trachea and blindness.

About a month ago, Nikolia was subjected to follow-up tests, which revealed that the size of the tumor had grown dramatically, while pressing the surrounding organs. According to the doctor who monitors her condition, Nikolia needs to be immediately subjected to a surgical resection of the tumor, since any delay could cause irreversible damage. Unfortunately, due to the location of the tumor, this surgery is considered a high-risk operation and it cannot be performed in any hospital or clinic in Greece.

The family’s doctor has already been in contact with a specialized center in Germany, where a team of specialized surgeons of various medical fields have already agreed to perform this high-risk surgery. The girl’s admission has been scheduled for late May, however her family is unable to gather the funds that are required for their little girl’s surgery and hospitalization.

A 12-year-old girl is in danger. She could very well be our child. We cannot turn our backs on her. We will do everything in our power, in order to raise the amount required for her surgery. Together, we can make it happen!

    Mission accomplished in less than 48 hours!

    <p>Thanks to the immediate response of thousands of people from the city of Patras, as well as people from all over Greece, we have managed to gather in less than 48 hours, the immense amount of 85.327 Euros, which was required for 12-year-old Nikolia’s life changing journey to the city of Hanover, where she will be subjected to a surgical resection of her tumor. Currently, we are processing all of the donations, while they will be posted in detail on Nikolia’s aid campaign page, within the next few days.<br />
    We kindly thank you for the support you have shown towards this family, who are overwhelmed by the compassion you have demonstrated throughout their ordeal. Within just 2 days, we have managed to achieve the unachievable!<br />
    Now, Nikolia has to fight the biggest of her life. We truly hope that the surgery will have the best possible outcome, and that she’ll soon return to Greece, healthy and happy!<br />

    Nikolia’s surgery was a complete success!

    <p>We are all extremely happy and emotional, since we were recently informed by both Nikolia’s family and the surgical team of Hanover, that Nikolia’s surgery was successful, since the specialized surgical team which took on this delicate surgery, managed to remove the tumor without damaging the surrounding nerves.<br />
    Nikolia is a 12-year-old girl, who has been diagnosed with a tumor on her right clavicle, while according to the child oncologist who monitors her condition, this is an extremely rare type of tumor, which grows on the neurons and which is considered to be extremely dangerous, since as it grows, it puts pressure against the surrounding tissues. Nikolia had to be immediately subjected to a surgical resection of the tumor, however due to the location of the tumor and the high surgical risk, the surgery couldn’t be performed in any clinic of the country.<br />
    Thanks to the immediate response of thousands of her fellow citizens of the city of Patras and people from all over Greece, we have managed, in less than 48 hours, to gather the immense amount of money that was required for her immediate admission, offering her the chance to be subjected to this crucial surgery.<br />
    Nikolia has already made it out of the ICU, and she is currently hospitalized out of danger at the clinic of Hanover. She is in good spirits, she can get out of bed and walk on her own, while in a few days, she will be getting discharged from the clinic and returning to Greece!<br />

    Together, we’ve made it happen! Nikolia’s life-saving journey has been successfully completed!

    <p>A rare form of tumor was threatening the life of the otherwise healthy 12-year-old girl, who had to be urgently subjected to surgery. Since this was a high-risk surgery, it had to be performed in a clinic abroad. The Organization immediately responded to the family’s call for help, and thanks to all of you out there, we have managed to offer our little friend a future full of health and prosperity.<br />
    We were amazed by all the threads you have created on social media, proving to us once more that together, we can do the impossible.<br />
    We would like to kindly thank all of our fellow citizens from Greece, but also from abroad, who so selflessly managed to save this young girl’s life, in less than 48 hours!</p>

    She speaks in the voice you gave her!

    <p>It is a great thrill when we learn that an operation or treatment has had a good outcome. It becomes even greater, however, when we hear a mother recount what she experienced and what she felt during the struggle she gave next to her child.<br />
    In the video, Nikolia’s mother is grateful to everyone who mobilized to save her child, raising the huge amount required in less than two 24 hours!!<br />
    We remind you that Nikolia was diagnosed with a rare type of tumor in the right clavicle that was extremely dangerous, as as she grew older it caused compression in the surrounding vital structures, which can bring complications such as vocal cord paralysis, bleeding, tracheal compression and blindness!<br />
    The risk of surgery was so great that it was treatable only abroad and specifically in a clinic in Hannover, Germany.<br />
    Everything went very well! The operation, the recovery, everything!<br />
    For a few days Nikolia became everyone’s daughter, friend, child!<br />
