When the residual limb recovered from the amputation procedure, she acquired a prosthetic hand, which needed to be replaced within the next decade. It’s been 21 years since then, and her prosthetic has now sustained irreversible damage.  According to her orthopedic doctor, Eleni needs to immediately acquire a new prosthetic, which will be custom made, based on the measurements of the residual limb.

Eleni is a 45-year-old woman, who has been facing a lot of challenges for the past 20 years, since she has lost her right hand in a work-related accident.

She was only 24 years old, when the doctors told her that they weren’t able to save her hand, and that she would have to spend the rest of her life wearing a prosthetic. Even though she was shocked by this turn of events, she didn’t give up. She gritted her teeth and tried hard in order to adjust to the new reality. When the residual limb recovered from the amputation procedure, she acquired a prosthetic hand, which needed to be replaced within the next decade. It’s been 21 years since then, and her prosthetic has now sustained irreversible damage.

According to her orthopedic doctor, Eleni needs to immediately acquire a new prosthetic, which will be custom made, based on the measurements of the residual limb. The new prosthetic is essential, since it will improve her quality of life, as well as her emotional wellbeing, while it will also help her become more functioning. However, Eleni is unable to cope with the cost of this purchase, since she has trouble working due to her high disability rating.

Eleni’s life turned upside down from one minute to the next. However, she never stopped smiling or having a mindset of positivity. Today, 21 years after the accident, she asks for our help. We cannot turn our backs on her. Together, we have the power to provide her with the new prosthetic she so desperately needs! Any contribution can make a great difference!
