Campaign Story

Asimina is just 16 months old and she has been diagnosed with congenital, sensorineural bilateral hearing loss. When the little girl came into this world, she didn’t present with any health complications. However, when she got subjected to the automated otoacoustic emission test, the doctors discovered that she was suffering from severe bilateral hearing loss.

Even though Asimina has been already subjected to a cochlear implantation of the right ear, the doctors recommend that she is also subjected to a cochlear implantation of the left ear, since any level of hearing loss could lead to speech and receptive language delay.

The family’s health insurance has already agreed to cover a great part of the surgery’s cost. However, the little girl’s parents are unable to gather the remaining amount required for her surgery and hospitalization, since they have come to a financial dead end.
