About 7,5 years ago, time stood still for Dimitris. The young man suffered a car accident that led to severe craniocerebral injuries that deprived him of the ability to speak or move. Dimitis had to remain in the ICU for three whole months, while when his condition stabilized, he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, in order to undergo the required treatments. 

Over the past few years, Dimitris has been subjected to a home-based physiotherapy and speech therapy  program, which has been extremely beneficial for the 29-year-old man, since these treatments strengthen his muscular system, while preventing the formation of joint stiffness and reinforcing any effort of active motion. At the same time, Dimitris’ swallowing ability has improved, and if he proceeds with his treatments, he will eventually have his gastrostomy removed. 

All these years, Dimitris’ family has been facing an uphill struggle, both financially and emotionally. Dimitris’ mother can no longer work, since she is her son’s and husband’s sole care-giver, while Dimitris’ health-related expenses keep on increasing. 

Dimitris’ mother reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS, and thanks to your defining support, we managed to procure the required orthopedic equipment, while assuming the cost of his treatments for the past 2 and a half years! Today, however, Dimitris’ family is asking for our help once more, since they cannot possibly afford the cost of his treatments, which are essential for his health improvement!

Dimitris’ life fell apart from one minute to the next. This young man suddenly found himself confined to bed, fighting for his life. We cannot turn back time. We can, however, facilitate this young fighter’s struggle, with one small gesture! We all join forces for Dimitris!
