Campaign Story

For the past year, 58-year-old Dimitris Athanasopoulos, is struggling to recover, since he took a fall that almost cost him his life. After crumpling to the ground while walking, he suffered severe craniocerebral injuries, as well as a skull fracture and a hematoma. He spent many months in the ICU, while being in critical condition, where he contracted numerous hospital-acquired infections. After being discharged, he was subjected to a cranioplasty. However, his condition still remains critical. According to the doctors who are treating him, it’s imperative that he remains hospitalized in a High Dependency Unit of a rehabilitation center, for a minimum of 6 months, until he can recover and stand on his own two feet. Even though his health insurance is covering a part of his hospitalization costs, his family still needs to come up with 21,060 euros, a sum that they cannot possibly afford.  Let us all offer Dimitris a chance to fight for his life and return home to his children and his family!
