Campaign Story

Giorgos is 27 years old and he suffers from neurofibromatosis, an autoimmune disorder that affects the skin, the bones and the nervous system. When Giorgos was just a baby, he started to develop brown lesions all over his body. His mother got worried, therefore she immediately visited their pediatrician, who referred them to a university hospital of the country, where after being subjected to a series of blood work and imaging diagnostic tests, he was diagnosed with type I neurofibromatosis. Neurofibromatosis is a disease that has no cure, while the only available treatment consists of surgical correction of the deformed bones.

As years went by, Giorgos started to develop neurofibromas all over his body, such as his skin, his spine and his gastrointestinal system, while 3 years ago, he was also subjected to surgical removal of a neurofibroma on his lumbar spine.

Recently, Giorgos developed a varicocele, a condition that can be only surgically treated. The procedure has been already scheduled for early January, however his family hasn’t managed to gather the amount required for his surgery and hospitalization.

Giorgos has been battling this disease his entire life, however he is not giving up. Let us all support this true fighter’s struggle, with one small gesture!
