Campaign Story

Victoria is a sweet, two-year-old girl, who has been diagnosed with bilateral, congenital blepharoptosis, esotropia and reduced visual acuity. When the little girl came into this world, the pediatrician noticed that the baby could barely open her eyelids, therefore he referred the parents to a Children’s hospital of Athens. Months went by, however Victoria was still unable to see, since her eyelids were blocking her field of vision. When she was six months old, she had to be subjected to two ocular surgeries, however they weren’t successful. Her parents didn’t know where to turn and after considering all of their options, they came in contact with the Pediatric Eye Centre of Greece, which is located in Thessaloniki.

Thanks to your immediate response, we managed to cover the cost of her surgery, as well as the cost of the family’s transportation and lodging in the city Thessaloniki. The little girl was subjected to blepharoplasty of the left eyelid in late November of 22’. According to the surgical team who took on her case, everything went well, while her vision is already showing major improvement.

According to the eye doctor who monitors her condition, little Victoria needs to be also subjected to blepharoplasty of the right eyelid, since any delay could affect her overall development. The little girl is already being subjected to physiotherapy, since she has missed some of her developmental milestones due to her eye disorder. The surgery has been scheduled for May 19th, however her family hasn’t been able to gather the amount required for her surgery and their lodging in Thessaloniki, since their daughter’s ever-increasing, health-related expenses have brought them to a financial dead end.

Little Victoria has been struggling ever since she came into this world. Let us all join forces and offer this little fighter the chance to enjoy her childhood and to live a normal life!
