Maria-Efremia is suffering from a rare syndrome of the gastrointestinal system and she needs our support in order to stay alive! 

Maria-Efremia is a 20-month-old girl, who is experiencing an ordeal, since she was diagnosed early on with Megacystis-Microcolon-Intestinal Hypoperistalsis Syndrome, a severe disorder of the gastrointestinal system that prevents the proper function of the bowel and bladder. This syndrome is extremely rare, since so far there have been less than 250 cases reported worldwide.  

Maria-Efremia wears an ileostomy at all times, while she is being fed only via parenteral nutrition, which means via an intravenous catheter. So far, she has been subjected to 13 surgical procedures, while she has been hospitalized numerous times due to infections of the central venous catheter and the urinary tract.  

Thanks to your sensitivity and your defining support, we have managed to cover little Maria-Efremia’s medical and medicinal needs, for a significant period of time.  

Today however, this family needs our support one more time, since the parents are unable to cope with the ever-increasing expenses that have surfaced due to their child’s health condition, while trying at the same time to make ends meet.
