Melina is a 23-year-old woman, whose life turned upside down when she was diagnosed with breast cancer one year ago. It was August of 23’ when the young woman detected a lump in her right breast. Melina immediately consulted her doctor, and after being subjected to the required tests, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The 23-year-old woman was immediately subjected to the required chemo rounds, while a few months ago, she had to undergo a mastectomy, since the treatments did not manage to reduce the size of the tumor. As soon as Melina recovered from this painful surgery, her doctor referred her to a private clinic of Athens, where she underwent the required radiation and hormone therapy sessions, in order to prevent the possibility of a metastasis. 

The past year has been an uphill struggle for the young woman, while her ordeal is far from over, since Melina will have to be regularly subjected to follow-up tests, while she is currently receiving the prescribed medication.

Aside from the psychological aspect of the matter, Melina’s health issue has also affected the family’s finances, since the young mother and her husband are unable to settle the medical bills that have accumulated from her recent treatments. At the same time, Melina will not be able to work for a long period of time, something that has created additional challenges for this family of four. Not knowing where else to turn, the young couple reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS and after a thorough inquiry conducted by our interdisciplinary staff, we took all necessary action in order to organize this aid campaign that will allow us to support this family who is going through an immense ordeal.

Melina was a healthy and energetic mother, who suddenly found herself fighting for her life. Today, she needs our support, so that she can keep on fighting with dignity. We cannot turn our backs on her! We’ll stand by her side throughout this ordeal. We join forces for Melina!
