Short Story

Nikolas is an adorable little boy, who has been struggling ever since he came into this world, since he is suffering from a rare gastrointestinal syndrome. Nikolas had to spend the first 77 days of his life in the hospital, where he was subjected to 3 consecutive surgeries. The little guy was recently subjected to anorectoplasty surgery, while in a few days he will travel to Athens, in order to be subjected to lithotripsy. Nikolas’ family needs our support, since they are unable to afford the cost of the lithotripsy procedure to which their little boy needs to be soon subjected. At the same time, Nikolas’ health-related expenses, such as his medication, his formula and the frequent visits to specialized pediatric gastroenterologists and developmental pediatricians, have brought the family to a dead end.

Nikolas is an adorable little boy, who has been struggling ever since he came into this world, since he is suffering from a rare gastrointestinal syndrome. When the little guy was born, he was immediately transferred to the NICU, since he was diagnosed with anal atresia, esophageal atresia and intestinal stenosis. Nikolas had to spend the first 77 days of his life in the hospital, where he was subjected to 3 consecutive surgeries. The little guy was recently subjected to anorectoplasty surgery, while in a few days he will travel to Athens, in order to be subjected to lithotripsy.

Nikolas’ daily life is a constant struggle, filled with surgeries, hospitalizations and treatments. The little guy mostly consumes formula, while he is regularly subjected to physiotherapy, occupational therapy and feeding therapy, since he still hasn’t reached his developmental milestones, while he is unable to consume solid food.

About one year ago, little Nikolas’ family reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS, and thanks to your defining support, we managed to assume our little friend’s health-related expenses, for one whole year! Today, this family needs our help once more, since they are unable to afford the cost of the lithotripsy procedure to which their little boy needs to be soon subjected. At the same time, Nikolas’ health-related expenses, such as his medication, his formula and the frequent visits to specialized pediatric gastroenterologists and developmental pediatricians, have brought the family to a dead end.

Little Nikolas has been fighting an uneven battle, since he has been subjected to numerous surgeries, while in the foreseeable future he will have to undergo additional anastomosis surgeries. The challenges this little boy is facing are never-ending, yet nothing can wipe the smile off his face. We’ll stand by his side throughout this ordeal. Any contribution can make a great difference!
