Campaign Story

Panagiotis is a young man who has been struggling for years, since he has been diagnosed with epilepsy. Fate, however, had in store one more challenge for him, since he suffered a massive stroke five months ago. The young man began to suddenly feel nauseous, while he was unable to move his extremities. His family rushed him to the hospital, however, his condition rapidly deteriorated, since the 26-year-old man could no longer speak, while his whole body was paralyzed. Panagiotis was urgently subjected to a craniectomy, while he was afterwards transferred to the ICU.  The stroke was eventually attributed to a pathology of the left spinal artery.

Over the past two months, Panagiotis has been subjected to an inpatient program, while giving his all in order to regain his lost skills. The young fighter has partially regained mobility of the right extremities, however, he is still unable to speak, while he cannot move his left side at all. At the same time, he still has a tracheostomy and a gastrostomy. As we can all understand, Panagiotis will have to remain in the rehabilitation center for a long period of time. His health insurance, however, only covers a part of his treatments and Panagiotis’ family have found themselves in a dead end, since they are unable to afford the immense cost of his treatment program.

Panagiotis’ life fell apart from one minute to the next. The young man suddenly found himself confined to bed, fighting for his life. We cannot turn our backs on him. We’ll stand by his side for as long as needed!

If we join our forces, we will make it happen!
