Short Story
Stavros and Georgia are two siblings four and three years old respectively. Until recently, the children weren’t experiencing any health problems. Their life however turned upside down on December of 22’, when they suddenly presented with difficulty breathing, combined with high fever that wouldn’t subside. According to their test results, the children had contracted an adenovirus, which led to bronchiolitis obliterans, a condition that causes permanent damage to the lungs. Currently, the two siblings are at home, where they are subjected to respiratory physiotherapy, while receiving concentrated oxygen. Little Stavros’ condition is worse, since he breathes via a tracheostomy and is fed via a nasogastric tube.

Campaign Story
Stavros and Georgia are two siblings four and three years old respectively. Until recently, the children weren’t experiencing any health problems. Their life however turned upside down on December of 22’, when they suddenly presented with difficulty breathing, combined with high fever that wouldn’t subside. The children were rushed to the hospital, however their condition kept on deteriorating. As a result, they were intubated and transferred to the PICU. According to the test results, they had contracted an adenovirus, which led to bronchiolitis obliterans, a condition that causes permanent damage to the lungs. When the two parents received this terrifying diagnosis, they lost the ground under their feet. Two perfectly healthy children have suddenly found themselves fighting for their life.
After spending 4 months in the PICU, the children were finally discharged. Currently, the two siblings are at home, where they are subjected to respiratory physiotherapy, while receiving concentrated oxygen. Little Stavros’ condition is worse, since he breathes via a tracheostomy and is fed via a nasogastric tube.
As we can all understand, the family’s expenses are unbearable. Treatments, medication, medical equipment, expendable supplies for their daily care. And obviously a mother who is now unable to work, since the children require 24 hour care.
It’s scary how things can fall apart from one minute to the next. This family is going through hard times and needs our help. Let us all join forces once more, and do everything in our power in order to facilitate their struggle!
