Vasilis is 41 years old and he has been diagnosed since he was a preadolescent, with Werner syndrome. Ever since the diagnosis, he has been suffering from type 2 diabetes, UTIs, motor impairment, osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and skin ulcers, while when he was younger, he had to be subjected to a surgical resection of the lower jaw bone, which was replaced with a titanium plate, due to cancer.

Vasilis is suffering from Werner syndrome (progeria) and he desperately needs our support!

Campaign Story

Vasilis is 41 years old and he has been suffering from Werner syndrome, an autosomal disorder that causes rapid aging, as well as a variety of severe health problems. It all started when Vasilis was a preadolescent. It was then when his parents started to notice that their son was getting easily tired, while his growth had significantly slowed. They then visited their pediatrician and after a series of hormonal and genetic tests, he was diagnosed with Werner syndrome.

That’s when an uphill struggle began for him and his family. Ever since the diagnosis, he has been suffering from type 2 diabetes, UTIs, motor impairment, osteoporosis, atherosclerosis and skin ulcers, while when he was younger, he had to be subjected to a surgical resection of the lower jaw bone, which was replaced with a titanium plate, due to cancer.

His support system throughout this daily ordeal has been his mother, who has never his side. However, after all these challenges, such as diagnostic tests, treatments and surgeries, his family has now reached a dead end, since they are struggling to cope with his ever-increasing health-related expenses.

Vasilis has been through a lot, however he is not giving up. Instead, he is grateful for everything life has to offer. Let us all join forces and offer him a better quality of life. Any contribution can make a great difference!
