Last November, 47-year-old Aggeliki, mother of 2, was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. So far, she has been subjected to 1 chemo round, while she has 4 more left. When she completes her treatment plan, the doctors who monitor her case, will rule if and when she will be subjected to a bone marrow transplant. On top of that, Aggeliki is also experiencing problems with her stomach and bowel, while she has also been diagnosed with microbemia. Due to her condition she needs to be often hospitalized, however, the doctors are unable to determine the duration of her treatments. Aggeliki requires nursing care around the clock by a home care nurse, not only during her hospitalization, but also during her chemo cycles, when she will be staying at her house. Her transportation to and from the hospital in Athens takes place with the use of a private transport (taxi), since due to her condition it’s unsafe for her to be exposed to crowds. Aggeliki resides in a small town and she has left behind her two children to the care of her deaf husband and her in-laws, who are quite old and are unable to take care of them. Let us all offer Aggeliki the chance to complete her treatments, so that she can finally return to the loving arms of her family and her children, who need her the most!
