Gaia is a 9-year-old girl who suffers from Leaky Gut Syndrome, while she is also experiencing severe developmental delay. When she was just a baby, she would often manifest episodes of gastroenteritis and after a series of diagnostic tests she was diagnosed with Leaky Gut Syndrome. After this diagnosis, she was subjected to a dietary regimen, thanks to which her symptoms subsided significantly. However, as months went by, her parents started to recognize some red flags, since the little girl would avoid eye contact, wouldn’t respond to her name, while she would utter inarticulate sounds, without being able to speak. That’s when the parents asked the advice of their pediatrician, who referred them to a developmental pediatrician and at the age of three, Gaia was diagnosed with severe developmental delay. Following the diagnosis, Gaia was being subjected to speech therapy, occupational therapy and sensory integration therapy. Even though her condition gradually improved, Gaia still has a long way ahead of her, since she is still unable to speak, while she is experiencing difficulties regarding her social communication and interaction.  

After the parents informed themselves of all possible treatments, they came in contact with a center abroad, which specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders, and which provides a variety of innovative treatments that could improve all aspects of her development. Even though her parents couldn’t afford the cost of the treatment, they couldn’t deprive their daughter of the chance to a better quality of life. Therefore, they had no other choice but to borrow a significant amount of money, so that they could travel to Serbia, where the treatments are being performed. It’s been a few months since their daughter’s first session, and so far it looks like the treatment has paid off, since the little girl’s condition has shown some improvement.  

Gaia must soon return to Serbia, in order to proceed with her treatments, however her family doesn’t have the means to afford the unbearable cost of the required sessions, since they are still trying to settle the debts that have accumulated from the previous session.  

Gaia needs our supports, so that she will be able to speak and play, just like all children her age. Let us join forces and offer this smiling little girl a second chance in life!
