Campaign Story

Giannis is 48 years old and he suffers from renal failure and permanent left-sided hemiplegia. 

When he was younger, he was diagnosed with type I diabetes, a condition that has greatly affected his eyesight, while in 2009 he suffered a work-related accident that caused severe abdominal injury. As a result, he was subjected to a splenectomy. Unfortunately, the uphill struggle had just begun, since a few months later he was diagnosed with renal failure, while a month later he suffered a severe ischemic stroke, which resulted in permanent left-sided hemiplegia and dysarthria. Two years later, and while his overall condition hadn’t shown any improvement, Giannis was diagnosed with heart failure and he was subjected to an aortic valve replacement.  

Today, Giannis is confined to a wheelchair. He receives medication, while he is being regularly subjected to dialysis, as well as a series of diagnostic tests. All of these years, Giannis has been fighting on his own. However, he has now reached a dead end and he and his family cannot longer cope with the ever-increasing expenses of his medical care, or pay off the medical bills that have accumulated over the years.
