Campaign Story

2-month-old Rafail had to fight for his life since he was in his mother’s womb, when he was diagnosed with complex congenital heart disease. As soon as he was born, he was transferred to the NICU of a public hospital in Athens, where he was subjected to cardiac catheterization as well as a stenting procedure, while according to the doctors who monitor his condition, Rafail will have to be subjected to an open heart surgery before he even blows his first candles.  

After two harrowing months, Rafail has finally returned home. Currently, he is receiving medication, while he needs to travel regularly to Athens, where he will be subjected to further tests. Unfortunately, Rafail’s family is experiencing financial difficulties and they are unable to cope with the ongoing expenses, such as the cost for their transportation to and from Athens, as well as the cost for the baby’s medical and medicinal needs.
