Short Story

Isidoros is a 4-year-old boy, who is daily struggling, since he has been diagnosed with Noonan syndrome, a condition which is caused by a genetic mutation, and which causes, among other things, developmental delay, disorders of the lymphatic system and cardiovascular abnormalities. The child has not yet developed his speech. He has a tracheostomy, while he experiences great difficulty walking. At the same time, he has been diagnosed with severe hearing loss, and since the hearing aid is not working out for him, he will have to be subjected to a cochlear implantation. Isidoros requires a variety of medication and medical expendable supplies, while he is regularly subjected to physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and respiratory physiotherapy.

Isidoros is an adorable little boy, who is daily struggling, since he has been diagnosed with Noonan syndrome, a condition which is caused by a genetic mutation, and which causes, among other things, developmental delay, disorders of the lymphatic system and cardiovascular abnormalities.

The child has been facing an uphill struggle, ever since he came into this world. The little guy was born premature, and was immediately transferred to the NICU, where he had to remain for 8 whole months. Due to the prolonged intubation, however, Isidoros developed bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a chronic and severe pulmonary disease. When he was just one year old, the little guy had to be subjected to a bowel surgery, while a few months ago, he was subjected to 2 consecutive surgeries, due to the development of severe lymphedema to the lower extremities.

About 2 years ago, Isidoros’ parents reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS, and thanks to your sensitivity, we managed to cover the cost of the little guy’s health-related expenses, for one whole year! As years go by however, our little friend’s needs keep on increasing. Today, Isidoros is four years old. The child has not yet developed his speech. As we can all understand, the expenses regarding the little guy’s care are constantly increasing. The child’s parents have found themselves in a dead end, and they are asking once more for our support, in order to offer their child the medical care he requires.
