Short Story
Asterios is a 5-year-old boy who is daily struggling, since he has been diagnosed with childhood autism. Currently, the little boy attends a special needs school, where he is subjected to speech therapy and occupational therapy. According to the developmental pediatrician who monitors his condition, it’s imperative that the treatments increase in frequency, since they play a major role in the overall improvement of his functioning skills. Unfortunately, the little guy’s parents are unable to cope with the cost of the additional treatments, since the child’s daily needs, such as diapers and vitamin supplements, are taking a great toll on the family’s budget as it is.

Campaign Story
Asterios is a 5-year-old boy who is daily struggling, since he has been diagnosed with childhood autism. When the little guy came into the world along with his twin sister, everything appeared to be normal. As months went by however, his parents noticed that Asterios’ behavior was far different from his sister’s. The boy wouldn’t respond to his name, while he was unable to maintain eye contact. Months went by, and his parents were eagerly waiting to listen to their son’s first words. However, they waited in vain. After a while, the parents consulted with a pediatric psychiatrist and a pediatric neurologist and after a series of tests, he was diagnosed with autism.
Today, the little boy attends a special needs school, where he is subjected to speech therapy and occupational therapy. So far, his condition has shown great improvement. The little guy is now able to use a limited vocabulary, however he is still unable to form sentences. He has begun to socialize, however he is presenting with poor coordination, while he avoids engaging in activities that require manual dexterity.
Recently, little Asterios’ parents reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS, and after a thorough inquiry of our medical and social department, we organized this aid campaign in order to support this family who has been fighting all these years in order to provide their little angel with the best medical care.
Asterios is facing an uneven struggle. Things that most of us take for granted, constitute a great challenge for this little boy. We have the power to help him. So let us all join forces and offer this little fighter a better quality of life!
