Christina is 21-months-old and she has been suffering from stage 4 neuroblastoma. It all started last summer, when the little girl would refuse to eat, while her abdomen was always distended. Since the symptoms wouldn’t subside, her parents took her to their pediatrician, who immediately referred them to a hospital of the nearby city, in order to be subjected to the required tests. Unfortunately, the tests confirmed every parent’s worst nightmare. The little girl was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, of the abdomen and the left adrenal gland, which had already metastasized to the head.

Little Cristina was immediately admitted to the hospital, where she was subjected to intensive chemotherapy, while a few months later, she was subjected to a surgical resection of the left adrenal gland and the surrounding tissue. Even though the treatments seemed to be working, the results of her latest test were quite discouraging, since the neuroblastoma of the head has reappeared.

In a few days, little Christina will be subjected to a new chemo round, while afterwards she must travel to Athens, where she will be subjected to a bone marrow transplant.  Christina’s parents are going through tough times, since they are worried about the treatment’s outcome, while they see their baby suffering before their very eyes.

Christina’s mother is currently unemployed, since she accompanies her baby girl to all of her tests and treatments. As a result, the family is experiencing financial hardship and they are unable to cope with their child’s health-related expenses, as well as the cost of their transportation to and from the hospital of the nearby city, where Christina is being treated.

Christina has been fighting for her life, even before her second birthday. We cannot turn our backs on her. Let us all join forces and offer her the chance to fight and win the battle with cancer!
