Campaign Story
Aliki is a 48-year-old woman who has been facing a severe health problem which requires immediate surgical intervention. The problems for Aliki began 2 years ago, when she started to experience vaginal bleeding which was gradually getting worse. Aliki visited the local hospital and after a series of tests, she was diagnosed with a polyp in her uterus. She was immediately scheduled for curettage at a university hospital of the country, however the polyp wasn’t fully removed. Months went by and Aliki kept on suffering from bleeding and intense pain. According to her gynecologist, the safest procedure, which has to be performed as soon as possible, is an hysteroscopic polypectomy. Our Organization has already come in contact with the clinic and the competent medical staff, according to whom the procedure in question cannot be performed in the public hospital where the woman had the first procedure.
Aliki’s only option is her admission to a private clinic of Athens, where she will be subjected to a hysteroscopic polypectomy, a procedure which will free her of this ongoing ordeal. However, her family is currently facing financial difficulties and they are unable to cope with the cost of this procedure. Within the next few days, Aliki will travel from Crete to Athens, in order to be admitted as soon as possible!
Aliki has been struggling for the past 2 years, while her health is severely compromised, since she is experiencing signs of anemia due to the constant blood loss. The only thing she wants is to get on with her life, free of the pain and the bleeding she is experiencing almost daily. If we join forces, we’ll be able to help her. Any contribution can make a great difference!
