Campaign Story
53-year-old Antonia has been experiencing severe health problems for many years now. When she was younger, she was diagnosed with type II diabetes and hypercholesterolemia, a rare metabolic syndrome which results in early heart failure. Even though this diagnosis had affected her daily routine, the young woman came to terms with the new reality and went on with her life. About 7 years ago however, she had to face another challenge. Breast cancer! Antonia was immediately subjected to a mastectomy, while she was later subjected to chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Since years had gone by and her cancer was in remission, Antonia thought that her ordeal was finally over. A few years ago however, she began to feel fatigue and shortness of breath and after being subjected to a series of tests, she was diagnosed with myocardial ischemia.
Today, Antonia has a high disability rating, therefore she cannot return to her job. At the same time, the cost of her health-related expenses, such as regular follow-up tests and medication, combined with the family’s living expenses, have brought Antonia to a financial dead-end.
Antonia is doing everything in her power, in order to provide her children with electricity, food and all of their essential needs. In addition, her treatments and medication are essential for her well-being. If she doesn’t get her medications on time, her health could be compromised and we cannot let that happen.
If we all stand by Antonia’s side, she will be able to follow her treatment plan and to have access to the medication she needs to receive on a daily basis. Together, we can offer a helping hand to this family, who has been struggling during all of these years to stay above water! Any contribution can make a great difference!
