Currently, Dimitris is being hospitalized in a rehabilitation center in Athens, where he is being subjected to an intensive program that consists of physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. It’s imperative that Dimitris remains in the rehabilitation center for at least a few more months, since he is unable to fend for himself, therefore he requires care round the clock. Furthermore, the physiotherapy and speech therapy exercises he is being subjected to are essential in order to get out of the wheelchair and to regain the ability to speak.

Campaign Story

An active physician found himself in a rehabilitation center, after suffering a stroke. Dimitris was working as an assistant director of the ORL clinic of a private hospital in Athens. For the past 30 years, he has been kindly offering his services to children and adults. Now, he needs our help in order to get back on his feet! His life turned upside down last February, when he suddenly started to feel numbness and debility to his right side. His daughter, who was with him at the time, panicked and immediately called for help. 63-year-old Dimitris was rushed to the hospital. The tests revealed the presence of intraparenchymal hematoma. Dimitris had to remain in the hospital for 2 and a half months. Afterwards he got transferred to a rehabilitation center, where he remains till this day, fighting to recover. Dimitris is fully aware of his surroundings. However, he is trapped in his body. He can barely move his upper extremities, while he is unable to fend for himself. He requires care 24 hours a day.

It’s imperative that Dimitris remains in the rehabilitation center and that he proceeds with his physiotherapy and speech therapy treatments, so that he can finally be able to get back on his feet and to regain the ability to speak. Dimitris’ health insurance provider won’t cover the entire cost of his hospitalization. It’s up to us to support him.

All these years, Dimitris had devoted his life in offering hope and in saving his patients’ lives! Now it’s time to receive some of the kindness he had offered. Even the slightest contribution is enough to change this man’s life forever!
