We join forces for Giorgos’ rehabilitation, the 22-year-old young man from the island of Chios! He needs us by his side!

<p>Giorgos, a 22-year-old young man from the island of Chios, suffered a motorcycle accident on 12/4/21, which profoundly altered the course of his life. During the accident, he sustained severe craniocerebral injuries, as well as other bodily injuries. As a result, he had to remain in the ICU for 25 days, where he was also subjected to a tracheostomy and a gastrostomy. Giorgos spent 1.5 years in the hospital, where he was struggling daily in order for his condition to stabilize. Afterwards, he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, where he remains to this day. After being subjected to a variety of customized treatments, his condition showed great improvement, since he is aware of his surroundings and he can now verbally communicate, although he is still unable to form sentences, since he is still experiencing disorders regarding the function of his brain.<br />
A 22-year-old man is unable to perform things that most of us take for granted. He is unable to speak, to eat on his own, to walk, to fend for himself. His young age is of key importance, since it constitutes the leverage which will help him achieve any autonomy regarding his motor skills. However, in order for his motor skills to improve, he will have to remain at the rehabilitation center for one more year, since this facility provides him with the required means that will help him regain his motor skills.<br />
His mother had to leave her job, while she has never left his side, not ever during the death of her husband. His health-related expenses are taking a great financial toll on the family. They are unable to cope with the unbearable cost of his hospitalization, therefore they need our help so that Giorgos can dream of a better future.<br />
Together, we can offer a sense of hope to Giorgos and to his family! Let us all ensure that he has access to his annual rehabilitation program, which will offer him the chance to fight and win this battle!</p>

Immediately after the accident, he was rushed to the ICU, where he stayed for 25 days. He was subjected to a tracheostomy and a gastrostomy. Giorgos was touch and go for the first 1 and a half year.<br />
He sustained severe craniocerebral and bodily injuries. He is unable to do what most of us take for granted. To eat, to speak, to walk, to fend for himself.<br />
During his stay in the rehabilitation center, his condition showed some improvement. He is aware of his surroundings, while he can communicate his needs with the use of isolated words. His doctors are still optimistic, since due to his young age, there is a chance he will eventually achieve some degree of mobility.<br />
