Campaign Story

Maria-Efremia is an adorable 3-year-old girl, who is struggling to survive ever since she came into this world, since she has been diagnosed with Megacystis-Microcolon-Intestinal Hypoperistalsis Syndrome. This syndrome is extremely rare, since there have been only 250 reported cases in the medical literature worldwide. The little girl has a Ηickmann line and an ileostomy on a permanent basis, while she is being fed via parenteral nutrition. To this day, she has been hospitalized numerous times due to infections of the central line and her urinary tract, while she has been subjected to a total of 14 surgeries!

The little girl’s parents had found themselves in a dead end, and they had made a public appeal through ACT OF KINDNESS. Our Organization launched two consecutive aid campaigns and thanks to your defining support, we managed to cover the cost of the little girl’s health-related expenses for two whole years!

Unfortunately, the little girl’s health-related expenses are gradually increasing. Maria-Efremia was recently subjected to her 14th surgery, during which they removed her gallbladder, since it had been severely damaged due to the parenteral nutrition. Maria-Efremia’s parents are asking for our support one more time, since they are unable to cope with the cost of the surgeries and the medical expendable supplies, which are essential for the little girl’s survival.

Maria-Efremia has been struggling ever since she came into this world! We cannot turn our backs on her. Together, we can stand by this little fighter’s side throughout this ordeal, and offer her everything she needs in order to survive!
