Campaign Story

Stergios had always been an energetic young man, filled with dreams for the future. He had his friends, his job, while he enjoyed playing music in his free time. His life however, turned upside down in October of 22’, when the young man suffered a severe motorcycle accident. Stergios was rushed to the local hospital of the island of Rhodes. Due to the severity of his craniocerebral injuries however, he had to be airlifted to a hospital in Athens. The young man remained hospitalized for 16 whole months, while he had to be subjected to a craniectomy, as well as to an enucleation of his right eye.

Over the past two months, the 29-year-old fighter has been hospitalized in a rehabilitation center, where he is subjected to an intensive physiotherapy program, since he hasn’t yet regained his motor skills. The center’s medical staff is confident that he will make a full recovery. In order however, to get back on his feet and to regain his autonomy, the young man will have to remain hospitalized for a few more months.

Stergios’ family have found themselves in a dead end, since they are unable to cope with the unbearable cost of his hospitalization, which is considered essential for his recovery. As soon as they came in contact with ACT OF KINDNESS, the organization’s interdisciplinary staff proceeded with the necessary steps, in order to organize this aid campaign, which will allow this young fighter to get his life back!

Stergios’ life turned upside down from one minute to the next! Over the past one and a half years, the 29-year-old young man is facing an uphill struggle. Even though he lost the ability to walk, even though he lost his right eye, he is not losing his courage! He is determined to fight till the end! We’ll stand by his side throughout this ordeal.
